40th Anniversary Celebration

PLYMOUTH GLASS & MIRROR CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF BUSINESS BY DONATING TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS

Plymouth Glass & Mirror is celebrating 40 years of business in 2021! It all started with the Maslak brothers, born and raised in Thomaston, who saw a need for local glass repair and opened a small repair shop in town in 1981. In 2001, younger brother Darryl took over the business and it has since grown to over 40 employees. PGM has always been family owned and operated and still is to this day. What was once a one bay shop in the 80’s has turned into a multi-building repair service facility helping the local community with residential and commercial glass projects.

To celebrate our 40th Anniversary, PGM is giving back to the community that has served us well over the last four decades. Every month throughout 2021 we will be surprising one local organization with a donation.  PGM Director of Operations, Nikki Maloid said that she is extremely proud of where the business has come in 40 years and wanted to take this opportunity to give back.  “We’ve learned a lot in 40 years and there’s no denying that we wouldn’t be here without the support of the local community. Paying it forward each month is our way of saying ‘Thank You’.” Below is a list of all the donations Plymouth Glass has made throughout this past year!

January: Thomaston Little League (TLL) by supplying new equipment for the upcoming season. TLL was unable to have a season last year due to COVID-19. In order to have a season this year they must comply with new regulations to keep kids and families healthy and safe. Equipment is needed for each child that will be participating and PGM is happy to provide some of the equipment that is necessary for play.

February: Thomaston Volunteer Fire Departments Explorers Program. Our donation helped Explorers attend the Connecticut Fire Academy Summer camp to learn valuable fire safety skills to help the Thomaston Community.

March: Dog Star Rescue. We helped a Connecticut Veteran find his new furry best friend by covering the cost of adoption fees and medical expenses.

April: Thomaston Community Food Pantry. The local pantry helps those in need right here in Thomaston and we were happy to provide food donations and supplies to help people in our backyard.

May: St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury. The mission does so much more for the community than feed and shelter those in need. Our donation helped put together individualized plans for community members to help them find solutions to brighten their future including job interview prep, clothing outfitting and more!

June: YMCA Camp Mataucha. Helping local kids throughout the summer was such a rewarding experience. With our donation local children were able to attend the camp that wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend.

July: Waterbury Police Activity League. Our donation will benefit their youth cooking program which is designed to help the kids with life skills they can apply at home. The PAL team has a food truck that is available for rent for your next event!

August: Dream Ride Experience/Special Olympics Connecticut. Our support helped support the dreams of the Special Olympics athletes and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The entire weekend event was a success and the foundation reached their fundraising goal of 3 million dollars.

September: Terryville Animal Rescue Foundation. With our donation they were able to cover unforeseen medical expenses for shelter animals and for much needed shelter supplies. If you’re looking to adopt a cat or dog, look no further.

October: Thomaston High School Project Graduation. Each year the Senior Class solicits donations to have a safe drug and alcohol-free graduation party to celebrate their success prior to their next adventure. We’re proud to support our Golden Bears!

November: Chase Collegiate School. Our donation helped supply winter jackets to over 20 kids in need.

December: Thomaston Christmas Committee. Each year the committee supplies local families with Christmas gifts to put under their trees.  We were happy to help provide gifts to those local children that might not otherwise have anything to open.

Recalibrating Your Windshield Sensors

The Technology of Modern Windshields

Most vehicles today come equipped with at least one form of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). ADAS provides warnings about potential hazards on the road, such as collisions or vehicles in your blind spot. If your vehicle is from model year 2011 or newer, it likely has ADAS integrated into its windows and windshield. However, if the windshield needs replacing, the ADAS must be recalibrated to ensure it functions correctly. Without recalibration, the ADAS may fail to detect vehicles, pedestrians, and roadblocks, compromising your safety. Vehicle manufacturers require ADAS recalibration whenever the windshield is replaced. Other situations that necessitate recalibration include wheel realignment, suspension system replacement, and disconnection of the vehicle’s camera.

There are two types of windshield recalibration: static and dynamic. Dynamic recalibration involves driving the vehicle at a specific speed on well-marked roads. Static recalibration uses an image on a fixture placed directly in front of the vehicle.

For the best ADAS recalibration, trust Plymouth Glass & Mirror, the leading windshield company in Connecticut since 1981. The procedure duration varies by vehicle make and model, but you should plan for about one to two hours.

When it comes to windshield repair, replacement and recalibrated services, Plymouth Glass & Mirror stands unmatched in the Waterbury, Bristol, West Hartford, Southington, and Fairfield, CT areas. We offer mobile service throughout the state. Contact us today if you need your vehicle’s ADAS recalibrated.
